Michael "Mickey" Olliff

Michael “Mickey” Olliff was born on November 28, 1937, to John & Annie Olliff in Girard, Texas and passed away peacefully on September 23, 2021, in Odessa, Texas.

He attended high school at Girard High School where he played football for the Cardinals. Mickey loved to joke that he graduated tenth his class and would add there were only eleven students total.

Mickey met the love of his life, Barbara Ann Pruitt in Artesia, NM and soon after the two were married on February 11, 1957. Mickey and Barbara had a wonderful 47 years of marriage.  They would welcome two sons and a lifetime of love until she passed away in 2004.

In the late 50’s Mickey and Barbara moved to Odessa. After working in the oil field for some time he became a partner at Tripple M Oil Tool and by the 1980’s he was the sole owner. Mickey loved his business and worked there until well into his 70’s.

Mickey was a devout Christian and one of his favorite things to do was read the Christmas story to his family on Christmas day. Family was the most important thing to him, and he made sure to let you know how much you meant to him when he saw you. He adored his great grandchildren with loving nicknames and would get the biggest grin on his face when they would visit. He was his happiest when he was with his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents John and Annie Olliff, his siblings Lela Jordan, George Olliff, Dorothea Long, Johnnie Dickerson and wife Barbara Olliff.

He is survived by his sons Mike Olliff and wife Melissa of New Braunfels, Terry Olliff of Corpus Christi, his daughter in-law Kathy Olliff of Odessa. His grandchildren Joshua Olliff and wife Emily of Odessa, Amanda Williams, and husband Marshall of Odessa. As well as his great grandchildren Jameson, Grace, Josephine, and James.

The Family would like to welcome friends and family to the viewing Friday, October 1 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 PM.

The family respectfully asks that only close friends and family attend the service Saturday, October 2 from 10:00-11:00 AM at Sunset Memorial with a graveside burial in Girard, TX at 3:00 PM with Jon Hendricks officiating.

Thank you, Thomas Blackstone, Jim Harris, Jameson Olliff, Glen Lawson, Kevin Skalenda and Marshall Williams, for serving as Pallbearers. Each of you held a special place in Mickey’s heart.

Honorary Pallbearers: Bill Carr & Buddy Jones who were best friends with Mickey for over 75 years! Don Donaldson (lifelong friend), Brandon Blau (close family friend), James Channell (lifelong friend) and James Williams (great grandson).
