Mildred was born to Audie and Bessie Price on October 10, 1931. She grew up in a share croppers family and was the middle child of nine siblings. She captained the girls Littlefield High School basketball team. After high school, she became a career woman in San Francisco employed as a bookkeeper for Wilson Dairy Company. Mildred moved to Odessa in 1950 and was employed at Pacific Finance Company and Odessa Motor Company.
She married the love of her life, Bennie Wayne Kiker, in 1953. Mildred always told the Lord if he blessed her with children, she would stay home and raise them the best she could. They were blessed with three good kids, Larry, Janet and Monica. Mildred and Bennie taught their children to love the Lord by serving Him at Vine Avenue Baptist Church. Mildred served the Lord as Sunday School and Vacation Bible School director, kitchen and hostess committees, attendance record keeper and by singing in the adult choir. One could find Mildred and Bennie at the church most any Saturday, working in the flower beds, on the roof working on air conditioning, or mowing the lawn. She was active in family activities including football, pep squad and band booster. She attended all of the kids sporting and band activities. She served as the PTA president at Fannin Elementary, delivered Meals on Wheels and was the pitcher of the fire department womens auxiliary soft ball team. Together, Mildred and Bennie owned and maintained rental property. Mildred could swing a hammer or paint brush and shingle roofs as well as anyone. She could fix or mend just about anything. Upon retirement from the rental properties, they moved to the east side of town and joined Chapel Hills Baptist Church where she continued serving the Lord by faithful attendance and serving in the kitchen.
She loved the outdoors, camping, fishing, water skiing, and the Dallas Cowboys. Most of all, she loved her family and friends dearly. Mildred was in inspiration and influenced many lives. She was a pillar of courage and strength to those who were blessed to know her. She was a dedicated wife, mother, friend and encourager. She was known by her bright loving smile. Mildreds grandchildren and great grandchildren gave her great pleasure and cherished the time she shared with them.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made to the music ministry or childrens camp scholarship fund at Chapel Hills Baptist Church.
