Mildred Dorothy Lucas, age 93, of Odessa was called to her heavenly home on Saturday, July 28, 2018. She was born on May 30, 1925 in Nacogdoches, Texas to Willie Ray and Cletis Josie (Lowery) Hutson. Mildred was the eldest of three children.
Her family originally came to Texas in 1833 settling in Nacogdoches and San Augustine Counties. Raised and educated in farm-country, she married Buford Edward Jackson on March 30, 1944 and continued to reside in Nacogdoches County.

In 1955, tragedy struck as she lost her husband in a severe automobile accident. Subsequently, she went to work for A&P Foods to support her young children.
On March 7, 1962, Mildred married Robie Lucas of Center, Texas and relocated to Odessa. There they had two daughters, Deborah Leigh and Dee Anna. As a homemaker, she loved cooking, sewing, gardening, crocheting, tending to her vast collection of plants in her greenhouse and taking care of her family. She devoted many years of her life to caring for her ailing mother. Mildred was also a longtime member of Sunset Heights Baptist Church of Odessa.
