Milford Smith

Milford Hollis Smith

November 20, 1924-April 7, 2009

Born in Bartlesville, OK, the son of Emma Mae and Milford Dewey Smith and brother of Emma Jo, he graduated from College High School in 1942. He attended Oklahoma State University until enlisting in the Army to serve in WWII in the 99th Infantry Division in Europe. After completing his service he returned to Oklahoma, married Sally Elizabeth Harned on December 27, 1947 and graduated from OSU in February of 1949. He was a marketing man who began his career as a salesman for General Mills, became Director of Marketing in the London, England office, then National Marketing Director for Armour and Companys Grocery Products Division in Chicago, IL, then Vice-President in charge of marketing for Western Publishing Company in Racine, WI. After retiring he consulted with small businesses for the State of Oklahomas Vo-Tech. He is survived by his wife, Sally H. Smith, daughter, Kathryn Graybill and son-in-law, Anthony Ridley of Odessa and his son, Stephen F. Smith, daughter-in-law, Louise Finke Smith, grandsons Benjamin and Daniel Smith and Bens new wife Wendy, of the Harrisburg, PA area. After moving to Odessa in 2001, Mick was a volunteer and supporter of The Globe Theatre. His family is deeply grateful to the people of Home Hospice for the care in his last days. It is requested that no flowers be sent. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 18, at 2:00 p.m. in the Parks Methodist Retirement Village library.
