Minnette "Minnie" Hayter Goodman, 86, loving wife, mother and grandmother, died peacefully Friday evening in Odessa, Texas, October 23, 2015, at Parks Retirement Home surrounded by her family. She loved her Church and family and was loved by all who knew her.
Minnie was born June 21, 1929, in Greenville, Texas to John Oliver & Minnie Bass Hayter. She was the youngest of 3 children.
She graduated from Greenville High School and attended East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas and graduated with a degree in Education.
Minnie taught at Rusk Elementary School, Ector High School & Bonham Jr. High School until her retirement. Many of her students would tell her after completing her class that she was their favorite teacher and that she had given them a good foundation in English and grammar. She always wanted all her students to know that she loved them and, more importantly, always stressed the importance of having a good education.
On Aug. 28, 1949, Minnie married John Goodman in Greenville, Texas. Minnie and John and were married for 60 years.
She is survived by loving family members: Robbie and Dan Brazelton of Odessa; Joni and Bynum Vincent of Odessa, Bryan and Sara Brazelton and their children, Grady & Caleb of Fort Worth, Blake and Kasey Brazelton & their children, Hallie & Drue of Midland; Aaron & Camille Hobratschk, Mason Vincent; "J.O." John Oliver & Marge Hayter of Shreveport, La; Delores Hayter of Paris, Texas and Gene Goodman, of Bullard, Tx.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Oliver & Minnie Hayter, Her husband, John Goodman & her brother, Robert Hayter of Paris, Texas.
Minnie was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Odessa since 1949. She was a member of the Wesley Couples Sunday School Class. Minnie served on numerous church committees throughout the years.
Visitation with the family is scheduled for 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, October 26th, 2015, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Memorial Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 27th, 2015, at First United Methodist Church with Terry Tamplen officiating.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Parks Retirement Home & Courtyards Retirement Home for their loving care of "Miss Minnie", as they liked to call her.
Funeral services are entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home.
