Monte Reed

Monte J. Reed, 78, of Odessa, TX, passed away on December 25, 2015 in Odessa.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home in Odessa.

Funeral Services will be at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at First Baptist Church, in Odessa with Don Norris officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Monte was born in Royalty, Texas to J. B. and Lora M. Reed on February 3, 1937. He went to school in Odessa, graduating from Odessa High School in 1955. He married Sharon Lynne Meyers on June 3, 1956 at the First Baptist Church in Odessa. Monte graduated from Texas Technological College in Lubbock, Texas in June of 1960 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Monte worked for various companies in the oil, gas and petrochemical industries over a long career that saw him and Sharon making a home in many locations including Odessa, Anchorage, Alaska and Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia. In 1999 Monte retired to Georgetown, Texas and in 2009 he and Sharon made their final return to Odessa. Monte remained very active with his church and his service to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Monte is preceded in death by his father, J. B. Reed and mother, Lora M. Reed.

Monte is survived by his wife, Sharon Reed; son, Michael Keith and wife Debbie; daughter, Netha Lynne Boucher and husband, Kenny Boucher; son, Larry Scott and wife Denise; grandchildren, Valerie Elmore, Curtis Reed, Jacob Reed, McKenah Reed and Brandt Reed and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Michael Reed, Scott Reed, Curtis Reed, Jacob Reed, Brandt Reed, David Meyers and Kenny Boucher.

Memorials may be given to First Baptist Church, Odessa, Texas.
