Monte Scharles Wootton departed this life to join his creator, son-in-law, and youngest daughter in glory on Friday, 29 June 2018.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 2, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Kenny Copeland officiating.
Monte was born on February 11, 1936 to Jack and Ruby Wootton. As an only child, he quickly became the single heart's desire of his mother and father.
Monte spent his life as a jack of all trades, from banking to ice machine sales; his infectiously memorable spirit enlivened every path he came across. The vast majority of Monte's pursuits were dedicated to pouring his soul into his marriage, his children, his grandchildren, and his great-grandchildren. His life on this earth included one seeped in insurmountable integrity, lighthearted but deep love, and genuine attention to the deepest parts of other people's souls. While his time on this earth was often filled with humorous compassion,
Monte endured life's most devastating heart ache, the death of his youngest daughter. Despite grief beyond compare, Monte's dogged determination allowed him to touch lives regardless of the injustice he encountered.
His steadfast love for his family and Heavenly Father represent the greatest achievements of his life. Monte is preceded in his death by his parents, Jack and Ruby Wootton, son-in-law James Gregory McDonald and youngest daughter Jana Lou McDonald. He is survived his wife, Betty Lou Wootton and eldest daughter Karen Kay Hargrove.
The family requests in lieu of floral arrangements, donations be made to The Hideaway Foundation, an intensive therapy organization targeting the restoration and transformation of marriages all over the world. The Hideaway Foundation, 4211 I-40 West, Ste. 202, Amarillo, TX 79106.
