Montez Smith

Montez Holt Smith, age 89 of Odessa, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, May 2, 2013 in Midland.

She was born January 25, 1924 to Coleman and Millie Holt in Coleman County, Texas. She was one of eight children.

She married Harold E. Smith on October 21, 1951. Together they raised their three children in Odessa.

Her love and commitment to her husband and family were second only to her love for the Lord.

Montez was a prayer warrior and had a passion for life. She embraced every day she was ever given. She was a strong woman of God and weathered many storms in her life. In the midst of these storms, she became a spiritual mentor to so many around her, never overlooking an opportunity to share her love for Jesus.

She is preceded in death by the love of her life, Harold Smith, three brothers, one sister and her parents.

She is survived by a loving family that include her children, Woody Hawkins of Victoria, Texas, Becki and Mike Prudhome of Bossier City, Louisiana and Kevin and Alice Smith of Midland sisters Elsie Lee of Coleman, Texas, June Wilson of Comfort, Texas, and brother Fred Holt of Boerne, Texas seven grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren.

We invite you to celebrate her life with us. Visitation with the family will be 57 PM Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 PM Sunday, May 5, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at 10:00 AM Monday, May 6, 2013 at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

The family of Montez Smith would like to thank Wendy Hernandez for her loving care and support through the years. In addition, we wish to extend our sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff at Manor Park and Hospice of Midland.
