Myra Sue Jenkins, of Odessa, passed away on May 25, 2024.
Visitation will be 3:00pm to 5:00pm, Sunday, June 2nd at Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00am, June 3rd, at Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home with Pastor Jimmy Braswell, officiating.
Sue was born in Sulphur Springs, Texas to Ethel and Elbert Glenn on September 12th, 1942, before moving to Goldsmith, Tx. They later made Odessa, Tx their home where She graduated from Odessa High School, class of 1959. She met the love of her life Marion “Bud” Jenkins at Buddy’s drive-in, when she was 22, and were married October 18, 1964. They had two children Cindy and James. She worked at the Odessa Police Department as a meter maid, before transferring to be a supply specialist, for 25 years. There she met Billy Hammitt, her best friend who showed her years of love, support, wisdom and always provided an ear to listen. Sue was heavily involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren and nothing meant more to her than family.
Sue is preceded in death by her mother, Ethel Glenn. Her father, Elbert Glenn. Her sisters, Betty Storey, Jessie Glenn, and Jo Ann McDorman. Her brother, Jerry Glenn. Her husband, Marion “Bud” Jenkins. Her daughter, Cindy Jenkins.
Sue is survived by her son, James Jenkins and wife Hope. Her daughter, Melwyn Sims and husband Danny. Her grandsons, David Jenkins, Stacy Jenkins and wife Michelle, Zachary Wolfe and Jodi Freeman, Aaron Wolfe, Chris Sims, Brandon Sims and wife Erika. Her great granddaughter, Jaelyn Jenkins, 7 other great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Donations in her memory may be made the Special Olympics and the Odessa Police Department. The family of Myra Jenkins wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Medical Center Hospital, The Parks Senior Living, Home Hospice, Neal Pool Rekers, the Odessa Police Department, and all of her extended family and friends who were there for her and the family.
