Myrtle Hamilton

Myrtle Myrl Lavara Thorne, 97, was born September 29, 1914, to parents, D.B. and Ada Gray Thorne at their home near Denton, Texas.

In 1931 she was married to Melvin Jackson Hester of Electra. They later made their home in Odessa, where they raised their three children, Jackie Doyle, Billy Wayne, and Melva Jeanene. After 48 years of marriage, Melvin Hester passed away in 1979.

In 1981, Myrl married Tyra Hamilton in Lubbock, where they made their home for nineteen years before moving to San Angelo. Tyra also preceded her in death, in 2003.

Myrtle Myrl Hester Hamilton went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, October 19, 2011. She is survived by her son, Jack Hester, of Santa Maria, CA, and grandchildren Debora Hester Hallford of Denver, CO, Billy Wayne Hester, Jr. of San Angelo, Kathryn Rene Andrews Crispin of Alamogordo, NM, Harvey Gene Andrews Jr. of San Angelo, Joseph Wayne Hester of Santa Maria, CA, Gina Marie Hester Mendenhall of Ventura, CA, James Michael Hester of Orcutt, CA, Sharon Hester Claunch, Bob L. Hester of Houston, TX, Alan and Mark Hester of Austin, TX. Grandsons Jack Daniel Hester and Michael Trey Andrews preceded her in death. Myrtle Myrl is also survived by her niece, Geneva Hester Garvin of Midland, cousin A.O. Thorne, niece Judy Thorne Waller, thirtynine great and greatgreat grandchildren and grandnieces and nephews.

Services for Mrs. Hamilton will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Friday in Odessa, TX, with her grandsoninlaw, the Reverend David D. Crispin officiating and pallbearers Bill Hester, Harvey Andrews, Jr., Ryan Small, Alan Hester and Justin Crispin.
