Nancy Louise Eloi Creech, 64, passed away early morning on August 23, 2020. Her only daughter, Meredith Louise Creech McLain, and cherished son-in-law, Ryan Christopher McLain were with her through the end. She was also surrounded by love from family and friends both near and far.
She was a firecracker; independent, opinionated, vocal, and strong-willed. She was fiercely loyal, loved through honesty, intelligent, thoughtful, witty and kind. Nancy had a way of disarming people and making them feel included. All those traits helped her navigate through any of life’s obstacles.
Nancy was born October 24th, 1955 in Sulphur Louisiana as the second child to Percy Fredrick and Ara Mae (Mount) Eloi. She graduated from Sulphur High in 1973 after living in Ponce, Puerto Rico for three years. She then went to University of Louisiana - Monroe, then Northeast Louisiana University. While there she enjoyed her time as a member of Zeta Tau Alpha and earned her Bachelor of Nursing in 1977. She also met and married her true love, Michael Jay Creech, who preceded her in death in 2000. She earned her Master of Nursing from University of Texas at Tyler in 1994.
She had a diverse 43-year nursing career. She worked in acute care, telehealth, nursing instruction, clinical research, and most recently as a Nurse Recruiter at the Veteran’s Health Administration. Nursing was truly Nancy’s passion. She enjoyed both caring for patients, helping others pursue and advance their nursing careers, and advocating for nurses’ rights and pay.
Nancy cherished the title of “Mama” as well as “Aunt Nancy” to her beloved nieces/nephews, in-laws and great nieces and nephews. The most important title of all was “Grandma Nancy”. She is survived by her daughter, son-in-law, and their two children; Archer Michael and Ara Louise: her brother Percy Fredrick Eloi, Jr, and his wife Rhonda, their children Sarah, Grant, and Emily and spouses Danny, Lauren, and Scott, respectively: her sister Pamela Jane (Eloi) Bateman and her husband Jerry, their daughter Ashley and spouse Zach: and numerous great nieces/nephews.
