Nellie Smith

Nell Granny Smith, 82 of Odessa, Texas, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at Hospice House in Odessa.

She was born March 28, 1927 in Ryan, Oklahoma to R.L. Coats and Georgia Beula English Coats.

She married Toll Smith, Jr. on December 26, 1947 in Fort Worth, Texas. Nells true loves were her family and she enjoyed every minute of being together. She proudly watched her four grandsons play Permian football and attended any other activities in which her family was involved.

In the past six years, she became active with the Senior Citizens Centers, making new friends and enjoying games. Nell was especially proud of she and her partner being the Skip Bo champions for the past two years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, R. L. and Georgia Coats, her husband Toll Smith, Jr., brother Darius Coats, and nephew Gary Coats.

She is survived in death by her daughter, Sharon Case and husband Bobby of Odessa; her son, Kelton Smith and wife Janis of Odessa; her sister, Bonnie Allen of Decatur, Texas; her grandsons, Stoney Case and wife Kimberly of Glendale, Arizona, Stormy Case and wife, Lacey of Lubbock, Tate Smith and Skyler Smith of Odessa; her great grandsons, Cooper, Tucker and Ryder Case of Lubbock; one cousin, four nieces and many dear friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 Am Thursday, October 22, 2009 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Jimmy Braswell officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Pallbeares will be Stoney Case, Stormy Case, Tate Smith, Skyler Smith, Lance White and Ross White.
