Nelta Whitley

Nelta Aline Whitley, of Midland, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2013 at the age of 84.

Nelta was born February 14, 1929 in Frost, Texas to Roy Knott and Dollie Way Knott. She met Ralph Terry Whitley while they were both working for Phillips Petroleum Company in Oil Center, New Mexico. They married October 8, 1948. They lived in Goldsmith, TX, Oil Center, NM, Odessa, TX, and Hobbs, NM. She moved to Midland, TX in 1993. She was a longtime member of Sherwood Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Survivors include her son, Scott Whitley and wife Ramona of San Diego, California her daughter Maurene McDaniel and husband Mark of Midland, her grandchildren, Damon and wife Yuki, of San Francisco, Darren and wife Jessica, of San Diego, California, John McDaniel of Odessa and Marcie and husband Zac Miller of Lubbock her great grandson, Byron Whitley of San Francisco her brother, LaRoy and his wife Edith Knott of Albuquerque, her sister, Marty Farris of Midland and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Tom Hiser officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

The family request memorials be directed to a charity of choice.
