Neoma Swinney

Neoma Lavanda Swinney, age 96, of Odessa, peacefully passed from this life into the loving arms of her heavenly father on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, in Odessa.

She was born on March 10, 1926, to Joseph and Shirley Hall in Harrisburg, Arkansas. Her family of seven soon moved to Santa Cruz, California, and she attended school there.

Neoma married Donald R. Swinney on February 18, 1943, in San Francisco, California. They were married for 66 years until his death in 2009. She was mainly a homemaker but always was involved in Church, teaching adult Sunday school and served as president of Church Ladies Group at one time.

She was very talented and enjoyed doing ceramics, crochet, embroidery and was an expert seamstress, making wedding cakes and corsages even for some of her family. She was an excellent cook and baker. Neoma’s main desire was to live for her Lord and be a good wife and mother.

Neoma is survived by her daughter Brenda and son in-law, Eustalio Gutierrez, grandchildren: Stephen Curd and wife, Denise, daughters Mae, Jordan, Amber, Brandy, son, Toby, grandsons, Wesley Curd, and Matthew Curd.

Neoma’s son Don Swinney and wife Kathy, grandchildren: Sjanna Drum and deceased husband, Bobby, daughter Sydni and Brandon Swinney, deceased, wife, Samantha, son, KAI and daughter, Sage; Shelby Marquez, husband MO, daughter Steelie, Son Maddox. Total of 10 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6-8 PM, Monday, December 12, 2022, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Freddy Steen of Living Word Church officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
