Newbern Richarson

Newbern Alexander Richardson, Jr, 87 of Abilene, TX went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, at his home April 4, 2012.

Celebration of Life services will be Saturday, 11:30 am at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clydel Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Newbern Alexander Richardson, Jr. was born June 24, 1924 to the late Newbern and Ethel Richardson in Wayland, Texas. Newbern served proudly in the United States Navy during World War II with tours of duty in the Asian Pacific Theatre. He received a Purple Heart during battle in Saipan, 1944 and received two Bronze Stars.

He married Geneva Tucker, June 25, 1948. He worked for Cities Services Oil Company for thirty seven years and had been retired for thirty years.

Newbern is also preceded in death by his wife, Geneva.

He is survived by his sons, Richie Richardson and wife Teena of Spring, TX and Randy Richardson and wife Pam of Odessa, TX, granddaughter Rebecca Plymell and husband Kirk and two greatgrandsons Gage and Ryder of Odessa, grandson, Alex Richardson of Austin, TX.
