Nils Allison

July 21, 1961 — August 29, 2008

Nils Allison passed away on August 29, 2008 in Odessa, Texas. Nils was born July 21, 1961 in Tucson, AZ to Don and Fay Allison. He attended Elementary and Junior high school in Odessa and graduated from Odessa High School in 1979. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing baseball and football for the Boys Club. In Junior High he discovered his musical talent and began playing the tuba in the Crockett Junior High and OHS bands. During this time he also developed a love for calf roping. He was a charter member of the Little Britches Saddle Club as well as the American Junior Rodeo Association. He trained his horse Blue for roping. When he was not watching high school football or participating in band functions, you could always count on his traveling around West Texas to compete in roping events at rodeos.

Nils was a great husband, father, and most of all a best friend. He was employed with the Ector County ISD in the maintenance department for 20 years. He enjoyed working with Bob Townsend at Permian High School. His main goal in life was providing for his family and taking care of his wife and children. He was very supportive of his children in everything they pursued especially swimming. He assisted in coaching the Permian swim team for 10 years with Coach Davis and Coach Tefertiller; where both of his children were very active. Golf was a passion for Nils that he learned from his father. Nils never lost a golf game to his son. He also enjoyed his Permian football with Matthew and Dakota on Friday nights.

He is survived by his wife, their two children Danielle, and Matthew, and his daughter-in-law Jennifer all of Odessa. As well as his parents Don and Faye Allison, sisters Lavona Baker and Trena Allison, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and a host of friends.

Nils is preceded in death by his grandparents C.C. and Thelma Allison, and Annie Hogan, his brother Doug Allison, his sister Donna Douglas, and his longtime friend and brother-in-law Donald Baker.

The family takes comfort knowing he was greeted in Heaven by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. God embraced a wondrous angel when he received Nils.

The pall bearers will be Harley Hager, Eldon Egger, Gary Weatherford, Tony Chico, Kent Clark, Joe Weatherford, Ted Wellman, and Billy D. Hall. The Permian High School staff will be honorary pallbearers.

Services will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2008, at 5 p.m. at Crossroads Fellowship, with Rev. Paul Thompson and Matthew Levant, officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Services are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
