Nita Sampley

Nita Claire Lucas Sampley, 86, of Odessa, passed away on April 27, 2017 in Odessa.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday May 1 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home in Odessa with Reverend Mitch Wilson of The Message Church in Lubbock officiating. Arrangements are by Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Nita was born in Wichita Falls to C.A. and Juanita Lucas on November 30, 1930. She went to school in Wichita Falls and graduated from Wichita Falls High School. She married Troy Sampley on July 21, 1954 in Wichita Falls. She and Troy ran several businesses including Sampley Oil and The Gumdrop Tree in Odessa for many years.

Nita is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Allen (Bubba) Lucas and her nephew Jim Lucas.

Nita is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years Troy Sampley; brother in law Jim Sampley and wife Gayle, brother in law Bobby Sampley and sister in law Martha Sparkman; 9 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Nita was a special friend, sister, sister in law and aunt. She loved arts and crafts and antiques. She and Troy were a beautiful example of what marriage is. They set a wonderful example to all who were around them. Nita leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness.
