Nora Hernandez

Nora V. Hernandez, age 75, of Odessa, TX, passed away on March 12, 2016 in Odessa. God took an angel home.

Nora V. Hernandez was born on January 6, 1941 to Reducindo Villarreal and Antonia Villareal in Edcouch, TX. She married the love of her life, Robert Hernandez on August 20, 1960. She was an ordinary house wife, loving mother and grandmother with an extraordinary heart. If there is one word to describe her, it would be charity. Our mother could not see or hear of someone going hungry or going without warm clothing. She would very discretely give to those in need and from a very young age, she instilled that value unto her children to always count our blessings, give to those less fortunate and to never boast about the deeds that were done in the name of charity.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert D. (POP) Hernandez, her parents, Reducindo Villarreal and Antonia Villarreal, and 14 brothers and sisters.

She is survived by one sister, Pana Garza; her children, son, Rudy Hernandez and wife Sylvia, son, Robert Hernandez Jr. and wife Mary, daughter, Nancy Vasquez, son, Ismael Hernandez and wife Delfina, son, Michael Hernandez and wife Maria, son, Javier Hernandez and wife Gracie; 19 grandkids and 19 great, grandkids. Grandma will be greatly missed.

A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm, Tuesday, March 15, 2015 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, with Reverend Mark Woodruff and Reverend David Herrera, celebrant. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Gabriel Hernandez, Nickolas Hernandez, Noah Hernandez, Dominic Hernandez, Daniel Hernandez, Ethan Loya, Randy Hernandez, and Fabian Hernandez.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Chris Vasquez, J.R Hernandez, Ruben Lerma, and Ricky Lerma.

A special thanks to all the wonderful staff at Madison Medical Resort for their kindness and to Medical Center Hospital 8th floor staff for their care.
