Jean Bledsoe, age 86, passed away Friday, April 9, 2010 in Odessa. She was born in Kerens, TX to Albert Walthall and Era Maye Peters Walthall. Her husband James, of 51 years, preceded her in death in April of 1997.
She was a charter member of Antioch Christian Church of Odessa, TX and served as their first secretary for three years. Jean was hospitality chairman for the first five years at Antioch. She taught the Junior Department in Sunday school there for three years. Her hobbies were china painting, knitting, crocheting, reading, the computer and texting.
Jean did bookkeeping and invoicing for Middleton Steam Service in the 60s, working only part time. She was President of Alamo Elementary in 1965, worked in the Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary for several years in the 60 and 70s, was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Mad Hatters. She enjoyed playing cards canasta with friends every Tuesday afternoon for several years.
She is survived by two sons, Larry Bledsoe and wife Paula of Midland and Jimmy Bledsoe and wife Teresa of Odessa six grandchildren, Chris Sledge and husband Guy of Lubbock, TX, Barry Bledsoe and wife Amanda of Midland, TX, Casey Bledsoe and wife Samantha of Odessa, Brandon Bledsoe of Austin, TX, Marcy Ervin and Tissa Ervin Chandler of Odessa five great grandchildren, Dyllan Shaye of Lubbock, TX, Cheyenne, Dayden and Haylee Bledsoe of Midland, and Cassidy Jolene Bledsoe of Odessa.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3:30 PM Monday, April 12, 2010 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Matt Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
