Norvel Halfacre WW11 U.S. Navy Gunners Mate 3rd class set sail for Heavens Shores May 6, 2014. He docked at his Lord and Savior Jesus Christs safe port where he was welcomed home by his wife and loved ones who had gone on before him.
Norvel was born October 2, 1925 to William and Fern Halfacre in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. He married the love of his life Alene Polston October 6, 1942. He served his country with honor and dignity from 19431945.
Norvel worked in the oilfields of Illinois and Texas for over 45 years, knowing all aspects of the industry. He served as Vice President for Warton Drilling Company and was Vice President of High Sky Drilling.
When he was not working he spent time with his family fishing and hunting at Devils River retreat. His other favorite hobbies were spending time with his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren along with dancing and gardening. He was a current member of 2 Permian Basin Dance Clubs.
He accepted the Lord as his savior at 71 years of age and was a current member of Antioch Christian Church of Odessa.
He was preceded in death by his wife of over 67 years, Alene Halfacre.
He is survived by his sons Joe Halfacre of Odessa, Danny Halfacre and wife Joyce of Odessa, Daughters Pamela Robinson and husband Jerry of Whitney, Texas and Becky Walker and husband Danny of Odessa. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and several great grandkids and greatgreat grandkids.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 7, 2014 from 68 PM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Reverend Matt Wilson Officiating followed by Military Honors.
