Ollie Stallcup

March 13, 1924 — January 23, 2012

Ollie Digby Batte Stallcup, dearly loved mother and stepmother, motherinlaw, grandmother, aunt and friend crossed over into her promised land on January 23, 2012. Her family releases her confidently, knowing that she walked all of her life on a steadfast path with her savior, Jesus.

She is survived by her sons Bob Batte and wife Kay Duane Batte and wife Toni her daughter Vickie Bevers and husband Ted. Also surviving are stepchildren Anne Wylie Lynn Ramsey and husband Charles Charles Stallcup and wife Denise and Kent Stallcup and wife Tammy. Ollie had 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren 18 stepgrandchildren and 28 great stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Allen Batte a grandson Josh Batte her parents and siblings Elliot Digby, Irene Myrick, Raynell Patterson, Eddie Digby and her twin sister, Nollie Teague. She was also preceded in death by her husband Frank Stallcup and a stepson Raymond Stallcup.

Ollie was born to Ed and Lillian Digby on March 13, 1924 in Big Spring, Texas where she and her siblings grew up. It was there in 1941 that she married Allen Batte and began their own family. Widowed at the age of 43 Ollie entered the work force working for Gibsons in Odessa for over 10 years. Then in 1979 God brought Frank Stallcup into her life and blessed them with 31 wonderful years of marriage and blended two loving families.

Ollie considered herself to be so blessed by God to have her children living near her and sharing their lives with her. She enjoyed being involved in the lives of the grandchildren and greatgrandchildren who affectionately called her Ollie, watching them perform their many various activities. One of the greatest satisfactions of her life was that all her children and grandchildren received their college degrees. With her own formal education cut short during economic hard times, she implanted the value of education into her children.

Ollie had many interests including crocheting baby blankets for many newborns at church as well as her grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends and rooting for the Texas Rangers. She even took up the game of golf at the age of 65. She was famous for her homemade cakes and banana pudding. She enjoyed attending Senior Saints with Frank every Tuesday at the church. But nothing pleased Ollie more than to worship with her family. Her love of God and her faithfulness to Him and her church is a legacy to her children and grandchildren. Her own children are so thankful for the prayer warrior that she always was. To many of the younger women of her church, the quiet and gentle spirit of her daily walk served as a true role model.

A visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday, January 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Services will be at Grace Christian Fellowship on Friday, January 27 at 1 p.m. Interment will be in Big Spring, Texas at 3:30 p.m. Pallbearers will be grandsons Brent Batte, Blake Batte, Barry Bevers, Ronny Bevers, Brandon Batte, and Boyd Cowan.
