O.W. Van VanNatta was born February 25, 1913 in Bell Co. Married Edna Pearl in 1948 in Midland. Later moving to Odessa, Texas where he made a home for his family.

Van was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Ector County Sheriffs Posse, and the West Texas Trail Riders. He loved leading parades and helping with most all trail rides. Van learned horsemanship from his dad that allowed him to break, train and ride any horse.
Van was a world class checker player teaching his grandsons, Steven Ben every chance he got. If you dont like getting beat dont take the chance of playing with Van.
In fact he was the type that if he couldnt do something really well then he wouldnt quit till he reached perfection. This he passed on to Julia, Jerri, and Joe. Dancing was one of the passions that he loved and was exceptionally good. He never missed an opportunity to dance to a good song. The waltz being one of his many favorites.
He had a special love for fishing that he shared with Edna and the kids. Taking the boat and occasionally a trailer of horses they spent a lot of time on Lake Amistad. Edna and Van were soul mates in every sense of the word.
After Ednas passing, Van was never really the same. His family would like at this time to give a heart felt THANKS to his special friend, Suzy Brunner, for being there for him and helping us make his remaining days good ones.
O.W. VanNatta above all things was a dedicated and accomplished Odessa business man for six decades. His handshake was firm and when he started a business conversation he was focused and relentless.
Missed but not forgotten.
