Orela M. Price peacefully passed away at the Hospice House in Odessa, Texas on Tuesday, April 12, 2011.
She was born on February 13, 1931 in Brown County to Margie Bell and John Wilson Horton and was one of five children.
Orela was married to her high school sweetheart, Charles Roy McDaniel in 1949. After his death in 1987, she moved to Brownwood, Texas, where she married Billy Gene Price. It was during this season of her life, that she was able to enjoy her gifts of gardening and sewing, and establishing some dear friendships with Patsy and Rex Bomar.
She had an incredible love for children, so she treasured being a Mom to her three children, a teacher aide to the children at Permian High School for 17 years, and Mimi to her 6 grandchildren and GrandMimi to her 7 great grandchildren.
Her deepest love was her faith in the Lord, and she never failed to express His significance in her life. She will be remembered for her undying strength and grace when she was faced with trying times, but most of all, that she lived well, laughed often, and loved deeply.
Orela is survived by her son and daughterinlaw, Rodney and Daou McDaniel of Odessa, daughter and soninlaw, Susan and Dana Walker of Odessa, and daughter and soninlaw, Leah Kay and Tim Smith of Plano, Texas grandchildren, Camille Wheelock and her husband, John of New Braunfels, Texas, Cody Monzingo and his wife, Ashley of New Braunfels, Texas, Noi McDaniel of Plano, Texas, Krystal McDaniel and Joshua McDaniel of Odessa, Kristin Gibbs and her husband, Carlo of Plano, Texas greatgrandchildren, Macey, Aubrey, Clay, Troupe, Galina, and Will Wheelock of New Braunfels, Texas, Rex Ryan Gibbs of Plano, Texas sister, Carolyn Lawson and her husband, John of Spring, Texas brothers, Charlie Horton and his wife, Norma of Lake Sam Rayburn, Texas and Dick Horton and his wife, Sharon of Sugarland, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. John Doran for his exceptional care for our Mom as her primary physician for the past 35 years, to Wilma Grant, R.N. for her continued compassionate care throughout the years, to the caregivers at Amazing Grace Assisted Living in Midland, Texas and to the caregivers of Home Hospice of Midland. Your devotion, compassion, and kind care to our Mom these past two years will always be remembered. Also, we would like to thank the staff of Home Hospice of Odessa for making the last hours of Moms life comfortable as she peacefully entered her heavenly home.
We cannot see her, but she is with us still. A mother like ours is more than a memory. She is a living presence.
