Patsy Mae Rosser Woods

December 10, 1937 — February 13, 2025

Odessa

Patsy was born in San Angelo and moved to Eastland, Texas. She was a fun loving, adventurous, kindhearted girl. She loved her dog Shirley, reading Nancy Drew Books, riding her bike to her Uncle Donnie's Grocery, growing up in a big family, and as a teenager working at The Majestic Theater selling tickets. She attended Eastland High School, which she loved and made lifelong friends and spoke fondly of all their fun and being with her cousin and best friend Helen.

Patsy began her career at Connor Law Firm and was to attend Legal Secretary School to work for Attorney at Law Earl Connor Jr. in the Legislature. Patsy chose marriage and had three daughters, Sally, Elizabeth and Melinda. She was a happy, motivated mom who enjoyed camping, riding horses, biking, swimming and tennis with us. She was always there to encourage us in our interests, from piano, sports to art. She inspired us to further our education, Sally and Melinda, both teachers, and Elizabeth, an MD. Patsy was a proud mom. She did the same with her grandson, Ben and looked forward to seeing her great granddaughter, Charlotte, again and getting an ice cream.

During our school years, Patsy ran the Snack Bar at Sam Houston Elementary. It was a popular spot to eat lunch and many still remember our pretty mom.

Patsy was a natural at making our home cozy. She cooked delicious meals from her cookbook collection that made the house smell wonderful. Floyd and the girls were blessed. She added a wood stove, sewed, crocheted, learned to play the piano, took us to church, and taught Sunday School. She always had pets, cats, dogs, birds, fish, hamster (Ben's), chickens, cows, horses (Floyd's) and she treated them special care. She enjoyed her yard, planted flowers, hung hummingbird feeders and even had a pet bumble bee.

Patsy had a great library of interesting books and literature that she often read from with a cat snuggled next to her and a cup of coffee. Most of all, Patsy diligently studied the Bible writing down scriptures. Two of her favorites were Philippians 4:8 and Romans 8:28. She shared her faith in Jesus Christ to her daughters, giving us the best gift ever. Patsy was very patriotic and a proud American. She kept up with world events and stayed well informed. She was a proud Texan, owned a pistol and knew how to use it. She enjoyed trips to Fredericksburg, Ruidoso, New Orleans, Vegas and S. Padre. but her most favorite times were holiday get togethers with the family.

Patsy donated to help animals and people in need. She was planning to adopt a lion cub to sponsor. Patsy had so much personality. She was an inspiration, never letting anything keep her down. She was beautiful, loving and caring, the best momma, wife, best friend, and grandmother ever. Patsy made the world a better place.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Sally Powell; her parents, Louis Rosser and Ruthie Mae Lanier Rosser; sister, Dolle Hobbs; brother, Louis Jean.

Patsy is survived by her husband, Floyd Woods; daughters, Elizabeth Miller (husband Brian), Melinda Woods; grandson, Benjamin Powell (wife Katelynn); great granddaughter, Charlotte and granddaughter Jessica Edmonson (husband Shane); great grandmother to Espen, Enslee, Ada, and the late Sally's husband Ted.
