Paul Dee Adams Jr Butch passed away unexpectedly Thursday May 27, 2010 at Odessa Regional Medical Center. He was born August 25, 1947 in Corpus Christi Texas to Paul Adams and Katherine Marie Adams. His father was in construction and he spent his early childhood years moving around the south before settling in Odessa, Texas in the mid 1950s. He attended Burnett elementary and Bonham Junior High. He graduated from Permian High School in 1965 where he played the tuba and was a member of the PHS band. He was known for many of his antics during those high school years. He married the love of his life Doris Lynn Crosby on June 10, 1966 at Second Baptist Church. They were married forty three wonderful years and were blessed with two children. He was a great father and a loving husband.
Butch is survived by his wife Doris, son Trey Adams and wife Camie of Odessa, Texas daughter Darby Adams Hehn and husband John Hehn of Aurora, Colorado granddaughter Tehya Sue Adams of Anson, Texas four step grandchildren Lee, Jamie, John Riley and Ethan of Odessa, Texas and adopted daughter Amy Hargis and husband Lee of Plano, Texas.
He is also survived by brother Ron Adams and wife Linda of Odessa, Texas, mother and father in law Marguerite and Holland Cruse of Carlsbad, NM brother and sister in law Noland Crosby and wife Freda of Holly Lake Ranch, Texas and sister and brother in law Sandy and Bob Bogan of Carlsbad, NM. In addition he is survived by his stepmother Dorothy Adams of Odessa, Texas and numerous nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Katherine Adams.
Butch and his father owned and operated Adams Automotive and Central Parts Supply for many years. He later moved on to work in the trucking parts business and had called Freightliner of Odessa home for the last several years. There he had built several friendships not only with fellow coworkers but with customers as well. He was known for his dry sense of humor and wit. He touched many peoples lives without even knowing it. He was a good man and a good listener. He loved cars and racing and most Sundays could be found watching Nascar. He was beginning to learn the trade of becoming a gunsmith and was excited and looking forward to this challenge.
Dad, we will miss you more than you will ever know. We were truly blessed to have you in our lives. We hope that you are at peace and we shall wait until we can all be together again. Until then Dad, we love you.
Visitation with the family will be 57 PM Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Services are scheduled for 1:00 PM Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel, with Donald Bugg officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
