Pedro "Pete" Martinez

Mr. Pedro R. Martinez of Odessa, Texas, passed away surrounded by his wife, daughters and grandchildren on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at the age of 76.

Pedro R. Martinez was born and raised in Marfa, Texas, to the late Pedro C. & Angelita Martinez on January 24, 1946; where he also attended school before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. He was a proud United States Marine veteran of the Vietnam War and served from 1966-1968. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

Pedro married the love of his life Mary Lou on December 24, 1988, in Odessa, where they raised their two daughters. His two daughters along with his 7 grandchildren were his pride and joy. Pedro dedicated 15 years of hard work to Medical Center Hospital in the engineering department before retiring in 2006. Shortly after retiring from the hospital, Pedro decided he didn’t like sitting around at home, so he went to work for Barron Paint which later became Napa Auto Parts where he delivered paint and automotive parts to several body shops around town for several years.

Pedro never met a stranger and had a larger-than-life presence. He loved dancing, motorcycles, classic cars, crafting things seemingly out of nothing and most of all spending time and being mischievous with his grandchildren.

Pedro R. Martinez is preceded in death by his mother, Angelita Martinez; father, Pedro C. Martinez; his siblings, Otilia Lujan, Eva Fuentes, Ismael Martinez & Catarino R. Martinez.

Pedro is survived by wife, Mary Lou Martinez; daughters, Erica Zaragoza and husband Reuben, Kayla Perry and husband Michael; grandchildren, Brittanee Zaragoza, Reuben Zaragoza II, Alyssa Zaragoza, Chloe Zaragoza, Phoebe Zaragoza, Ava Perry, Maverick Perry and two great grandchildren.

Rosary will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, January 27, 2023, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home
