Peggy Jean Jernigan (Jay) Kelley, 60, of Odessa, passed away on October 25, 2016 in Ft. Worth, Texas at All Saints Hospital, after a sudden illness.
Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Friday, October 28, 2016 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home in Odessa, TX.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Jay was born in Norman, Oklahoma to George and Peggy Jernigan on February 17, 1956. She graduated from Lamesa High School in 1974. Jay married Rocky Kelley on August 6, 1998 in Odessa, TX. She worked as a secretary for Britt Trucking for many years. Her favorite hobbies were reading, playing with her bulldogs, and shopping. She was a very generous soul who loved everyone unconditionally.
Jay is preceded in death by George Jernigan (father) and Peggy Price (mother). She is survived by her father, Bull Price.
She is also survived by Rocky Kelley (husband); China Mendenhall (daughter); Frankie Mendenhall (stepson) and wife Tammy; Jabo Price (brother) and wife Denise; Ann (Beanie) Swann (sister) and husband Jerry; Bull Price (father); Arwen Tallman (granddaughter); Shirley Price (sister-in-law), nieces Sara Swann and children, Jennifer Price and children, and Stefani Maldonado (husband Steve) and children; nephew Chris Swann (and wife Sonya). Sister-in-law Brandi Brooks (husband Scott) and their children, plus father-in-law Jack Kelley (wife Nancy). And her two beloved bulldogs, Miki and Tiger.
Pallbearers will be Michael Price, Michael Rainer, Beni Gomez, Scott Brooks, Richard Arreola and David McBride.
Honorary pallbearers are Taddeo Gomez, Freddie Bostick, Nolan Reed and Larry Sailors
Memorials may be given to The Odessa Humane Society or any animal charity of your choice.
The family would like to send special thanks to Nicole Lilly (who always called Peggy Mama Jay). Nicole met Rocky at the hospital in Ft Worth at 3 a.m. when Jay was flown there by emergency medical plane. She stayed with them to the end, holding Jay's hand right alongside him. Thank you, Nicole. You are forever in our hearts.
