Peggy Carnes McComas, age 88, formerly of Odessa was called to her heavenly home on Wednesday, August 22nd, 2018. She was born on December 22, 1929 in Haskell, Texas to Weaver and Ana Lou Carnes. Peggy was the third of four children.
Her Family came to Texas in the early 1930's and settled in Ector County. Raised and educated in Odessa, she married H.L. Toby McComas on July 6, 1953 in Reno Nevada.
While Toby served in the United States Navy, Peggy took care of their three children Linda, LuAnn, and Michael. They lived in Stockton, Long Beach, and Viejo California, Artesia, New Mexico, Midway Island and Norfolk, Virginia. After retiring from the Navy in 1965 the family moved back to Odessa, TX where Peggy worked various jobs. She ended her career caring for her mother and her lifelong friend.
Peggy is preceded in death by her parents Weaver Carnes and Ana Lou Carnes Miller, her husband H.L. Toby McComas, and her brother Ollie Wayne Carnes.
Left to always cherish her memories are her children, daughter Linda Russell and husband Clifton of Keller, TX, son Michael McComas of Garland, TX, daughter Luann Ivy and her husband Randy of Allen, TX, sister Betty David of Odessa, TX and her brother Eddie "Tooter" Carnes of Seminole, TX.
Peggy was also known as "Granny" and is further survived by her grandchildren Dana Grosenbacher, Neely Waller, Jennifer McComas, Patrick McComas, Jessica Swaaley, Matthew McComas, and Lacy D'Amico. Great Grandchildren include Michael Waller, Bryce Waller, Kaden Grosenbacher, Katie Waller, Connor McComas, Dillon McComas, and Madelyn McComas.
The family would like to thank the countless unnamed friends and extended family who have been a part of Peggy's life.
Visitation with the family will be on Friday, August 24, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Funeral service is scheduled for 4:00 pm, Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow immediately after the service at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
