Pete Garcia Almendarez Jr.

Pete Almendarez Jr. of Odessa passed away on Saturday, September 9^th.

Visitation will be at Iglesia Apostolica at 11111 16^th Street Odessa, TX on Monday, September 18, 2023, from 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM. Celebration of life will start at 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM, with Pastors Arturo Bustamante and Saul Rocha officiating.

Funeral services will also be held at Iglesia Apostolica on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens at 6801 E, I-20 BL Odessa, TX 79762.

Pete was born in Ft. Stockton, Texas to Pedro and Elisa Almendarez, on June 7, 1948. He went to Elementary and High school in McCamey, Texas. He also attended college at San Angelo State.   He married Elizabeth (Betsy) Cordova on July 28, 1978, in El Paso, Texas. Pete served on the CIVITEN Board in Las Cruces, NM. He also served on the Advisory Board for John Ben Sheppard Leadership Institute at UTPB. He worked as a Vice President of Collections at Complex Community Credit Union where he retired in 2016 after 20+ years of employment.

Pete is preceded in death by his mother and father and sisters Dolores Contreras and Epifania Escobar.

Pete is survived by his wife, Betsy, siblings Hope Acosta, John Almendarez, Elia Dominguez, Roy Almendarez, Ben Almendarez, Priscilla Almendarez, and Elodia Hinojos. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and great and great-great nieces and nephews, and countless other family members and friends.

Pallbearers will be Timothy Acosta, Benjamin Cordova, Brandon Hinojos, Johnny Camacho, Christopher Day and Abel Bustamante.

The family of Pete wishes to extend our sincere thanks to MCH CCU, Continue Care, and Star Hospice doctors, nurses and all staff members. The family also extends their gratitude to all those who have visited, called, texted and shown their love and appreciation throughout his illness.
