Petra Vasquez

Petra Vasquez 73 of Odessa passed away on March 15, 2008 at Home Hospice. She was born on June 29, 1934 in Piedras Negras to Anestacio, and Fidela Escobar. She worked for UTPB for 17 years before retiring. She married Polita Vasquez on December 6, 1952. She was known for her laughter and kindness. She was known for her special recipes.

She is preceded in death by her two daughters; Maria Guadalupe and Dora Vasquez; her father and mother Anestacio and Fidela Escobar; sisters Josie Bugarin, Leondra Castaneda, Anestacio Escobar Jr.

She is survived by her husband Polito Vasquez; daughters Gloria V. Contreras and husband Jose F. Contreras, Rosie V. Armendarez and husband Ricky Armendarez; Son Robert E. Vasquez and wife Dora Vasquez; Sisters Pauline Porras, Julia Olivas, Narcisa Abundez; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A rosary will be held Monday March 17, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at Martinez-Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday March 18, 2008 at St. Josephs Catholic Church with internment to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
