Phyllis Turner

September 14, 1942 — August 29, 2017

Phyllis Elaine Turner, 74, of Odessa, passed away on Thursday August 29, 2017 in Odessa.

Visitation will be 5-7pm Friday September 1, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be at 4pm Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel, with Mr. Kristofer Gardana of Crescent Park Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Phyllis was born in Kermit, TX to Phillip and Maudie Antee (the sweetest mother ever), on September 14, 1942. Phyllis went to nursing school in Amarillo TX., Odessa, TX., and Big Spring, TX. She graduated 1978, 1979 and 1980 Cum Laude and earned her nursing degree as a RN. She worked many years as a nurse and was very devoted to her patients. She worked the graveyard shift at the hospital, raised 3 children and put 2 years of RN school in 2 years. Yes, quite extraordinary. Oh, and she always made time to make us Easter Bunny cakes for Easter (yum).

She married Ed Turner on June 1, 1981 in Monahans, TX. They were both working for Ward Memorial Hospital. Ed was a CRNA (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) and Phyllis as a RN. Then came the world wind Romance. They were very fortunate to have traveled to many exciting places and they were both avid archers, but she loved mostly fishing (have pole, will travel). She also loved cooking, scrapbooking, gardening, doll restoration, knitting, crocheting, and yes, she never tired of learning new things.
Phyllis was an active member at the Crescent Park Church of Christ and enjoyed teaching Sunday school with her dear friend Shirley Jenkins and spending great times with her brothers and sisters in Christ.

Phyllis is preceded by her mother Maudie Antee, father Phillip Antee and husband Ed Turner (Skip).

She is survived by her children Thomas Allen and Tammy Sue Riley of Robert Lee, TX, Teresa Elaine and Mark S. Hall (Mark and Tess w/West Texas Sign Company LLC, of Odessa, TX) Terry Turner of Midland and Stacey Turner of Denton, TX.; her dear sweet sisters Faye (Sis) Villander of Alabama and Marie and Hugh Polly of Oklahoma City whom she loved with all her heart; grandchildren, Gene and Angela Austin, Nathan and Jennifer Austin, Amy and Josh Hoover, Jerry Riley, Ashley, T.J. Turner, Haley and Brooklyn Turner; great grandchildren Jacob and Annabell Austin, Emily and Josh Austin, Bryson and Donovan (DJ) Hoover, Santi and Mia Silvas and Carter Turner.
