R. E. Dick Johnson 78 of Odessa died at his home of natural causes on Monday, July 5, 2010.

Richard was born June 11, 1932 in Butler, PA to Elmer and Mary Johnson. Dick was raised in Slippery Rock, PA where he was educated. Upon graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1950, where he bravely fought in the Korean War. When he completed his tour of duty, he and Phyllis were married on Saturday, February 2, 1957. They celebrated 53 years of marriage. Phyllis and Dick made the courageous decision to move their family to Odessa from Grove City, PA in 1975. Mr. Johnson founded and operated PJs Oilfield Cleaning Services in 1978 until his retirement in 1993. He was a hard working man, whom loved and cared deeply for his family. His favorite pastimes in retirement were to walk his dogs, and enjoy a cup of coffee with his friends, and he was always, fixin something.

He is survived by his wife Phyllis and his children Stephen Johnson of Boling, TX Darla Tamez of Richland Hills, TX Julie Townsley and husband Billy of Bedford, TX Molly Rohane and husband Andrew of Colorado Springs, CO and his sister Helen Peebles of New Wilmington, PA. Papa was the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.

Memorial services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jim Longstreet of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
