Rachael Jones

Rachael S. Jones, 84, of Odessa, TX passed away on October 20, 2016 in Odessa, TX.

Visitation will be from 3:00 - 5:00 pm, Sunday, October 23, 2016 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, October 24, 2016 at Northside Baptist Church with Clydel Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.

Rachael was born in Greene County, MS to Martin and Laura Smith on April 30, 1932. She went to school at Leakesville, MS. She attended nursing school and worked in the Greene County Sheriff's office as a clerk. She married Leo Jones on December 30, 1952 in Leakesville, MS. Rachael attended Northside Baptist Church with her family for over 50 years. Rachael loved her family, her church family, and friends. She enjoyed cooking and baking (her Cranberry Bread was special and she always had cakes in the freezer) and taking care of us. Always a smile and a hug for friends, loved ones, and new acquaintances.

Rachael was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Betty Louise Jones, sisters Zoe Lee Breland and Eva May Turner.

Rachael is survived by her husband, Leo Jones; children, Sallye and her husband Danny Downs, Julia and her husband Kelly Luxton, Barbara and her husband Wayne Edwards, and Martin and his wife Karen Jones; sister, Marty Turner of Leakesville, MS; grandchildren, Clint Shanks, Sarah White, John Shanks, Angie Jolly, Jesse Luxton, Christopher Jones, Caitlin Jones, and Carrie Jones; great-grandchildren, Bailey Shanks, Tatum Luxton, Colby Jolly, Mara White, Emory White, and Jhett Luxton, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Clint Shanks, Michael Jolly, Jeremy White, John Shanks, Jess Luxton, Christopher Jones, and Tatum Luxton.

Memorials may be given to the Northside Baptist Church.
