Rafaela Lopez

If you knew her, you loved her. She cared, she nourished, she provided, she taught by example. She loved. She was strong, she was hilarious. She was kind to everyone. She was a beautiful light. Her legacy is a strong, loving Christian Family that will forever cherish her memory.

Rafaela C. Lopez went to be with her Savior on Monday, February 3, 2014. She was born February 29, 1939 in La Ofecina, Mexico to parents Juan and Louisa Chavez. Both preceded their loving daughter in death. She married Margarito Lopez Sr. on May 20th, 1957. They remained married and in love until the day each of them breathed their last breath. Her loving husband welcomed her into heaven on Monday. They loved Jesus.

Rafaela was also preceded in death by her brother Ruben Chavez, and her sister Mercedes Baeza.

She is survived by Brothers: Ramon Chavez, Reyes Chavez, Juan Chavez, Eugenio Chavez, Joe Chavez, and Reynaldo Chavez. Sisters: Marita Carrasco, Concepcion Nunez, and Emilia Muniz. Children: Oscar Linda Lopez, Maria Raul Garza, Margarito Jr. Bertha Lopez, Terri Vasquez, and Sammy Lopez.

Rafaela has ten grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren.

A special memorial service will be held on Wednesday February 5th from 6:00pm 8:00pm at Sunset Funeral Home. Funeral services will also be held at Sunset Funeral Home the following day, Thursday February 6th at 1:00pm.

She was beautiful inside and out. We will miss her very much.
