Raymond Gonzales

Raymond Gonzales, age 58, of Odessa, TX, went to be with the Lord on July 17, 2018 after a courageous battle with a lengthy illness.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, July 19, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 10:00, AM, Friday, July 20, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Raymond was born to Antonio & Delia Gonzales on March 28, 1960 in Odessa, Ector County, Texas. He was an oilfield machinist by trade for 30+ years. He was an active member of the IHRA and NHRA drag racing communities. Raymond had a passion for the sport, spent countless hours teaching young racers and loved building race cars with his fellow racers. His other passion was watching his grandson Dawson play football. He was at every game near and far and was his biggest supporter.

Raymond officially married Leah Claiborne on July 7, 2007. Raymond spent the last 22 years loving Leah and together they raised seven children.

Raymond is preceded in death by his parents.

Raymond is survived by his children, son, Jason Crowder and wife Dawn of Odessa, daughter, Jami Riggs and husband Quinn of Odessa, son, Dustin Taliaferro, daughters, Misty Hunter and husband Clint of California, Jennifer Olivo and husband Nick of Midland, Kassie Wright and husband Mason of Odessa and Brandi Case and husband Mikey of Odessa; his grandchildren, Dawson Reynolds, Jessica Riggs, Cory Riggs, Colten Crowder, Learic Crowder, Caleb Stuessy, Madison Dowlen, Logan Hunter, Branson Hunter, Makayla Gonzales, Benjamin Olivo, Haylee Olivo; 7 great-grandkids, 5 sisters, 1 brother, countless nieces and nephews and an entire drag racing family.

Memorials may be made in honor of Raymond Gonzales to Home Hospice, 619 N. Grant Ave., Odessa, TX. 79761.
