Raymond VanZandt of Odessa passed away peacefully at home on December 1, 2023. He was born on May 22, 1940, in Colorado City to George VanZandt and Alice Hartsfield.
Raymond worked in construction for 60 years and started VanZandt Paving in 1979. There was no place he could go that he didn’t know someone. He had a passion for raising horses and cattle. He loved the outdoor way of life. He loved fishing and would spend as much time as he could at the lake.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He had a way of bringing out the best in people and had a smile that would melt your heart. He will be deeply missed by his family.
Raymond is survived by his wife of 54 years, Shirley VanZandt; daughters, Brenda and her husband Ed Pope, Sherry VanZandt and husband Rick Mckenzie, Tracy Watson, and Sharlene VanZandt; sons, Scott Moore, Joe Moore and wife Lisa; three sisters, Betty Brown, Awkie Lilley, and Sue Fitzwater; grandsons, John Pope and wife Jordan, Justin Collum and wife Christina, Jacob Collum, and Jeremy Mckenzie; granddaughters, Brianna Flowers, Ashley and Brittney Moore; and 3 great grandchildren, Grant, India, and Jaxon.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses, and hospice for the care and support offered through this time.
