Funeral Services for Rebecca Ann 'Becky' Stephens, 54, of Midland will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 9, at Sunset Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 6801 East Business 20, Odessa. Officiating will be the Rev. Wayman Swopes, pastor of Greenwood Baptist Church. Burial will be at the Sunset Memorial Gardens cemetery. BRBRMrs. Stephens, a retired registered nurse at Midland Memorial Hospital died Tuesday, June 3, in Odessa in a traffic accident. She was a God-loving, compassionate and tenderhearted person who always helped anyone in need. BRBRShe was born on Sept. 1, 1953, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to Bill and Freddie Vardeman, was raised in Odessa and graduated from Odessa High in 1971. BR
Thereafter, she became a registered nurse through Odessa College. Her nursing career was spent in Oklahoma City, Fort Worth but mostly in Midland since the late 1970s. BRBRIn August 1993, she married Ronnie Stephens, her devoted husband. Mrs. Stephens was a member of Stonegate Fellowship in Midland.
Pallbearers will be her sons, Jeremy Schiff of Midland and Christopher Schiff of Houston; nephews Josh and Jason Beavers of Keller; her brother, Alfred Vardeman of Colorado City, Texas; and a family friend, Shane Jason Mock of Oklahoma City. BRBRSurvivors include her husband, Ronnie Stephens; two sons, Jeremy Schiff of Midland and Christopher Schiff of Houston; her parents, Bill and Freddie Vardeman of Odessa; a sister, Vickie Beavers, and her husband, Jesse Beavers, of Keller; a brother, Alfred Vardeman, and his wife, Lana Vardeman, of Colorado City, Texas; a niece, Summer Vardeman of Colorado City.
