Reita Talley

Reita Talley, age 73, of Odessa, passed away on April 11, 2018 in Odessa.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm, Friday, April 13, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Kenny Comstock officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Reita was born in Knox City, TX, on May 13, 1944 to H.F. "Dub" Lewis and Gladys Faye McGregor. She spent her childhood and teenage years in El Paso, TX. Reita married Don Kyker in April 1961 and they moved to Odessa three years later, she was a mom and a housewife for many years. She later worked as a cashier for Furr's Supermarket. She married AJ Talley in 1976 merging two families together. The career of her life came when she started with Home Interiors. Her passion for decorating was infectious and she loved to inspire people, many of these people became longtime friends.

Reita is preceded in death by her husband, AJ Talley; mother, Gladys Plowman; father, HF. "Dub" Lewis; brother, Tommy Plowman, and sister, Judy Knowles.

Survivors include her children, son, Donny Kyker and wife Laura of Odessa, daughter, Carolyn Bickerstaff and husband Bobby, of Odessa, son Albert Talley and wife Susan of Friday, TX, daughter, Cindy Cox of Palestine TX and cousins, Callie Braddock of Odessa, Jerri Nelson of Duncanville, TX, Gayla Lewis, Gary Lewis, Mark Lewis, all of Odessa, Gary Don Lewis of Albuquerque, NM, Jimmy Lewis of Clovis, NM; grandchildren, grandson, Landon Kyker and wife Kelly of San Antonio, grandson, Heath Kyker and wife, Susan of San Antonio, granddaughter, Haley Huffty and husband, Clinton of San Antonio, granddaughter Annika Talley of Beaumont TX, grandson Dalton Talley of Livingston TX, granddaughter Heather Garcia and husband, Malcom of Copperas Cove, TX. Reita also has many great-grandchildren. Special mention of Gina Moon and Vicki Reed of Odessa, dear friends who Reita felt she could call day or night.

Since 2012, Reita has battled many issues and a big fight with COPD. She won her freedom from being oxygen dependent on April 11, 2018, when Jesus called her home. The last four years, the staff at Madison Health Resort has been a big part of helping her face the daily challenges of depending on others. Our thanks go out to them for their love and patience. Many of the staff went above and beyond the call and made Reita a part of their family. The staff of Home Hospice also gave Reita the comfort and support that seems unique to Hospice. Our heartfelt thanks to them for their comfort in her last few months.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either Madison or Home Hospice.

A creed Reita lived by was "I've tried my whole life to be loved and accepted, but I've learned that having the Lord is the most important thing."
