Rena Vaughan

November 27, 1923 — September 8, 2009

Rena Estell Vaughan of Odessa died September 8, 2009 in Amarillo after an extended illness. She was born November 27, 1923 to Albert and Lucy McCown and graduated from Dalhart High School.

Rena married Homer Andrew Vaughan March 8, 1942. Homer passed away in 2007 after 65 years of Marriage.

Rena was a homemaker and loved taking care of her family. She especially loved spending time with her grandsons and would sit for hours watching them rope, play day, or ride four wheelers. She amazed them with her ability to work Rubik cubes in any form.

Rena was a member of Sherwood Church of Christ in Odessa.

She was preceded in death by her husband Homer, a son Billy, her parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

She is survived by her daughter Mary Young and husband Roy of Amarillo, five grandsons, one granddaughter, and seventeen great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister Marybell Clements of Odessa.

We would like to thank Odyssey Hospice in Amarillo for the care Mom received, and we are truly thankful for Janie, Bea, and Jenny for the love and care they gave to Mom and to us.

Graveside services will be held Friday, September 11, 2009 at 1:00 PM in Sunset Memorial Gardens with her son-in-law Roy Young officiating.
