Rene Rubio Carrasco, 49, lost a long battle with cancer and passed away July 4, 2021, at home with his loving wife of 30 years and daughter by his side in Odessa, TX.
He was born on December 20, 1971, in Alpine, TX to his parents Hector and Gracia Carrasco, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his older brother Hector Carrasco Jr. He grew up in Presidio, TX and moved to Odessa, TX in 1990.
There are not sufficient words to adequately sum up the measure of this man’s life, but he will be remembered for his hearty laugh, warm smile, sense of humor, dedication to his family, and his great love of living the cowboy life. He had a sincere passion for team roping, at which he won several times in various team roping events and rodeos.
He is survived by his wife, Araceli Carrasco, daughter, Katelyn Carrasco, son Cristian Carrasco, 3 younger siblings, Rolando Carrasco, Ricardo Carrasco, and Rosa Maria Carrasco, as well as several extended family and friends.
The family would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who showed their support and prayers during his battle with cancer, including the medical team that was part of his treatments at MD Anderson and Texas Oncology at West Texas Cancer Center.
Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7:00 PM, Thursday, July 8, 2021, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 PM, Friday, July 9, 2021, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church with Father Joe Barbieri officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
