Reynaldo “Rey” Madrid Lascano, 69, of Odessa, passed away on Wednesday, April 2nd, 2025, in Odessa, TX.
Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM, Monday, April 7th, 2025, with a Recitation of the Rosary immediately following at 7:00 PM, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, April 8th, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church with Father Francis Onyekozuru officiating.
Rey was born in Roswell, NM to Elpidia and Cesario Lascano on October 11, 1955. He spent the majority of his youth between Odessa and Fort Stockton. He married Sulema “Sue” Moralez on August 25th,1979 in Houston. He received a Bachelor of Arts from The University of Texas of the Permian Basin and later two master’s degrees, one in Education and in Administration, from Sul Ross State University. He worked as a dedicated educator from 1991 to 2018, where he especially treasured his time at Odessa High School and UTPB.
Anyone that knew Rey knew how much he enjoyed working in his yard, while blasting his classic rock and Tejano music. Even more than his love for gardening was his love for his family. Whether it was walking his grandkids to the snow cone stand or gathering with loved ones by the firepit that he and Sue built together, he cherished every moment spent.
Rey is preceded in death by his parents, Elpidia Morales and Cesario Lascano; and brothers, Ruben Lascano and Robert Lascano.
Rey is survived by his wife, Sue Lascano; son, Justin Moralez and wife Tammy; daughters, Analisa Salazar and husband Raul, Evelyn Lascano and Calvin Burney, Alyssa Lascano-Holman; brother, David Lascano; sisters, Helen Barajas and Mary Patino; grandchildren, Ares, Mars, and Leonidas Moralez, Ashton and Brooklyn Salazar, Cooper Holman, Calvin and Cayden Burney, and Ezekiel Esparza. As well as Rey and Sue’s “other” kids, Ana Olivas, Karla and Epi Esparza, and Adrian Olivas.
Pallbearers will be Justin, Ares, Mars and Leonidas Moralez, Raul and Ashton Salazar, and Cooper Holman.
