Richard ("Dicky") Doyle Blount, Jr., 64, of Odessa, Texas, passed away on July 18, 2017.
Visitation will be at 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Sunset Memorial, 6801 E. Business 20, Odessa, TX 79762.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 21, 2017 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Landon Coleman of Immanuel Baptist Church officiating.
Dicky was born in Rotan, Texas to Richard Blount, Sr. and "Bonnie"
(Lilly Yvonne Cooper) Todd. He graduated from Abilene Cooper High School in 1971, and attended North Texas State University and Odessa College. He married Elaine (Morgan) Collier on April 23, 1983 in Odessa, Texas. He worked for his father's construction company, HBH Construction, and then became a construction supervisor for DCP Midstream.
His true passion and talent was cooking. His specialty was BBQ, and he loved cooking for crowds of family and friends. Ten years ago, Dicky and Elaine started their own business, Shade Tree Salsa, which sold his homemade salsas and BBQ sauces at farmers' markets throughout West Texas.
Dicky is preceded in death by his baby brother, David Todd, his dad, mom and step-father, Bill Todd, and grandparents. He is survived by his wife, Elaine; his daughter, Carrie and her husband, Jeremy Brown; his son, Lucas Collier and his wife, Tiffany. Grandchildren: Ethan Collier, Lillian Collier, Willow Brown, Cooper Brown and Zoe Brown.
Brothers: Darrell Blount and Danny Blount; and sisters: Lisa McHan, Teresa Alexander, and Pamela Mounts. Nieces: Shawna Blount, Alyssa Blount, Emily Greer, Melissa Wolff, Bryana Snyder, Lauren Langston, Lyndzie Allbright, and Emily Allbright. Nephews: Charles Richard "Ricky" Blount, Bradley Alexander, Matt Alexander, John Michael Allbright. He is also survived by stepmother, Janet Blount, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Family is receiving visitors at his sister's home, 1507 Cimarron Ave, Odessa.
