Richard Elizondo, Sr.

November 18, 1938 — January 8, 2010

Richard R. Elizondo, 71, of Odessa, Texas went to join our Father in Heaven on January 8th, 2010. Richard was born in McAllen, Texas to Raul and Jesusa Elizondo. He was raised in Houston and eventually settled in Odessa TX. All his life he was a welder here in Ector County, yet when he retired he went to work fulltime for Evans Pharmacy in Odessa.

Words cannot explain the impact that Richard had on our lives and he will be missed dearly. His family finds comfort in the fact that he is in Heaven with our Lord, as Richard was a very proud Christian man. He was an exceptional husband to his wife, father to his children, grandfather to his grandchildren and great grandfather to his great grandchild. He was most notably a family man with an enormous passion for his grandchildren. Richard enjoyed taking care of several animals that he owned including his dogs, and a bird named Daisy that lovingly referred to him as Papaw, just like his grandchildren. Richard loved to work diligently and it showed by all the happy clients that he did deliveries to and in everything that he did. He was always available to lend a helping hand and often bragged about the days when he was a local Golden Glove Boxing Champion.

Those left to cherish his memory are wife, Kim Elizondo sons, Rick Elizondo Jr, Tim Smith, Randy Elizondo, Roy Elizondo, Eli Meister, Audie Elder, Royce Barrow daughters, Belinda Benavides, Elizabeth Elizondo, Reann Fayed, Maggie Barrow 19 grandchildren and 1 great grand child, brother Joe Elizondo, and sister Irene Gilmore.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raul and Jesusa Elizondo, his loving first wife, Jackie Elizondo and his brother Sonny Elizondo.

Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at 6pm at Sunset Chapel by Betty Yoakum.
