Richard Parsons

November 30, 1953 — December 20, 2011

Richard Rick Dewayne Parsons, age 58, of Odessa, went to be with his Lord Tuesday, December 20, 2011 in Odessa.

He was born November 30, 1953 in Odessa to Francis Marion Parsons and Clara Paulene Jones. He graduated from Permian High School in 1972. He was a people person and always had a smile. He loved to write poems and always had a joke. He was a Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed golf, bowling and fishing. He was a hard working man and was a longtime employee of HarlowSammons. He was also a devout Christian and was a member of Church of the Risen Lord Lutheran Church.

He was better known as Papa to his family. Survivors include his wife, Debra Jones Parsons sons, Rick Parsons, Jr. and Julia, and Justin Parsons his daughters, Shelly Maxwell and Chad, Heather Henderson and Cody, and Brooke Parsons and James, all of Odessa. He is also survived by his brothers, Jay Parsons and wife Rhonda of Austin, and Stu Parsons and wife Donna of Odessa his sisters, Patti Breeding and Sherri Bredemeyer and husband Brady both of Odessa. Rick was adored by his 10 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be 68 PM Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home. Services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Friday, December 23, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Jimmy Braswell officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
