Richard Spencer Ii

Richard Warren Spencer II Spence, Uncle Butch, Chicken Hawk, age 68, lived in Odessa, Texas. After a long illness he passed away at his home on October 22, 2011. He was born December 13, 1942 in Odessa, TX to Richard Warren Spencer I and Beaulah Irene Clifton. He had one sister, Glenda Weaver, and one brother, David Spencer.

Richard enlisted in the Navy July 30, 1961, as a Hospital Corpman assigned with the 1st Combined Action Group III Marine Amphibious Force. He proudly served two tours of duty in Vietnam, and state side in the naval reserves as an E4. He was honorably discharged June of 1973.

Richard attended Kermit High School and Spartan School of Aeronautics. He was an Industrial Radiographer for fortyone years and he worked at several xray companies. He retired from American XRay Inspection Services, Inc. December 2010, where he worked with his son. He loved his family, friends, fishing, football and his dog Miss Piggy.

He is loved and survived by his two children, his daughter Jane Renee Phillips and her husband Steve of Odessa, and his son Richard Warren Spencer III Trey and wife Shawn of Midland six wonderful grandchildren, Jonathan Casey Phillips, Kara Jane Phillips, Ashlyn Faith Spencer, Sarah Michelle Phillips, Christopher Warren Spencer and Michael Adrian Spencer his brother David Keith Spencer and wife Vickie of Paducah, KY. He was also loved and survived by many nieces, nephews and countless friends.

Richard was preceded in death by his loving parents Richard Warren Spencer I and Beaulah Irene Clifton, and his loving sister Glenda Clair Weaver and husband Don.

The family will receive friends on Monday, October 24, 2011 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. The services and burial will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens and officiated by Pastor Robert Lamb Jr. Pallbearers will be Shane Richardson, Chance Richardson, Casey Phillips, Christopher W. Spencer, Adrian Spencer, Chris Spencer and Anthony Romero. Honorary pallbearers are Kara Phillips, Ashlyn Spencer and Sarah Phillips.
