Frank Stallcup of Odessa passed away on Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010, at the age of 92.
He is survived by his wife Ollie Digby Batte Stallcup. After the passing of both of their spouses, Ollie and Frank spent 31 wonderful years together a meaningful joining of two loving families.
Frank is also survived by daughter Anne Wylie of Ratliff City, OK, daughter Lynn Ramsey and husband Charles of South Jordan, UT, son Charles Stallcup and wife Denise of San Antonio, TX and son Kent Stallcup and wife Tammy of Odessa and by stepchildren Bob Batte and wife Kay, Vickie Bevers and husband Ted and Duane Batte and wife Toni, all of Odessa. Frank had 18 grandchildren and 28 greatgrandchildren, 8 stepgrandchildren and 15 step greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Anne McElroy Stallcup and a son, Raymond Stallcup, as well as his parents, his siblings, Walter, Ruby, Ethel, Jim, Winnie, Mac and Bud, a granddaughter and a stepgrandson.
Franks love for his family, powerful and enduring, will provide a lasting legacy for future generations.
Frank was born to Wenona Bridges Stallcup and Jim Stallcup near Ardmore, OK on April 8, 1918, the fifth of eight children. He graduated from Mt. Washington School, near Ardmore, OK and served in the Civilian Conservation Corps. He briefly attended Oklahoma AM. He was married to Margaret McElroy in 1940. After working as a fireman on troop trains, he served in the U.S. Merchant Marines from 19441945. He was employed by Samedan Oil Corporation for 38 years. He was a resident of Carter County, OK until 1962 and lived in Odessa for the remainder of his life. In retirement, he worked as a course marshal for Mission Dorado and Odessa Country Club.
Frank was a very competitive athlete in basketball, baseball, fastpitch softball and bowling and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He remained a lowhandicap golfer for most of his life, shooting his age or better on numerous occasions. He was an active and beloved member of Grace Christian Fellowship of Odessa, believed strongly in the grace of Jesus Christ and was a living example that our faith should be lived out through our daily actions.
There will be a visitation for family and friends at Grace Christian Fellowship, 3450 Billy Hext Road, Odessa, on Sunday, Dec. 26 from 6:00 7:30 pm. Services will be at Grace Christian Fellowship on Monday, Dec. 27 at 1:00 pm. Interment will be in Lone Grove Cemetery in Lone Grove, OK on Tuesday, Dec. 28 at 1:00 p.m. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in Franks honor to the Advent Conspiracy project at Grace Christian Fellowship, which will be used to drill wells and provide fresh water in Africa.
