Robert Eugene Bobby Williams, Sr., 76, of Midland passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at Odessa Regional Medical Center.
He was born June 24, 1932 in Dawson, Texas to Leroy Williams and Curtis Brown. Later the family moved to Vernon, Texas where he was raised. He married Tommie S. Nicholson September 15, 1951 in Vernon, Texas. After moving to Odessa, he began work as a gas station attendant. He became a member of Greater St. John Baptist Church serving as a Head Deacon for many years. He and his wife founded Williams Paving and Excavation, Inc. which now is operated by his sons and daughter. He was also a board member of ODIC from 1997-2004 and was a member of the Black Chamber of Commerce.
He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, perseverance, and service to his family and community. His motto was Be Reliable and Dependable.
Survivors include his wife, Tommie S. Williams of Midland; his sons, Robert E. Williams, Jr., and Edward E. Williams, both of Odessa; daughters, Dinah Ward and Janice Pierce, both of Odessa; 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, June 20, 2009 in Living Vision Church of God and Christ, 525 South Grandview, with E.J. Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
