Robert Parker

Robert Lynn Parker, age 74, of Midland, TX, passed away March 11, 2015 in Midland.

Visitation will be from 6-8 pm, Friday, March 13, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor J.J. Joiner of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Hobbs, New Mexico officiating. Burial will follow at 3:00 pm at Resthaven Memorial Park in Lubbock, TX with Pastor Adam Pardue of Highland Baptist Church in Lubbock, TX officiating.

Robert was born in Weslaco, TX to Joe Robert Parker and Vada Vera Lyles on September 6, 1940. Robert graduated from Odessa High School. He married Shirley Ann Chaffin on June 6, 1970 in Lubbock, TX. He worked as a store manager for Skaggs and Albertson for 25 years (1971-1996). He was retired for 6 years and then started his own franchise Fabrion of West Texas Interior repair to cars for 13 years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the Army. He was an avid golfer and bowled on a bowling league. He was a member of Crestview Baptist Church.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Joe Robert and Vada Vera Parker.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Shirley Parker; daughter, Mary and husband James Jones of Lubbock, TX; son Robbie and wife Beverly Parker of Burleson, TX; daughter, Tama Parker of Midland, TX; grandchildren, Ashley and Paige Jones of Lubbock, TX. Taryn Kuykendall and Taylor Hobbs of Midland, TX; sister, Brenda and husband Byron May of Rogers, TX; nephew, Slate and wife Kaci May of Tahoka, TX, their children, Sawyer and Sutton; nieces, Mackenzie and husband Jordan Dorsett of New Home, TX and Macauley May of Lubbock, TX. Also a dear, beloved friend and golfing partner, Suzanne Wallin.
Pallbearers are as follows, Robbie Parker, James Jones, Byron May and Slate May.
Honorary Bearers are as follows, Associates at Berg's Motors, Rogers's Ford. Toyota of Odessa, Nueva Vista Golf Associates and Wednesday evening bowling league in Midland, TX.
