Robert Powell

Robert Dwain Powell, age 59, of Midland passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at his residence.

Robert was born April 12, 1953 in Odessa, Texas to Robert Powell, Jr. and Billie Joyce Powell. He graduated from Permian High School in 1971. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1973 and was released from active duty as a Sergeant in 1978 with an honorable discharge. Robert loved to work on cars, work in his garden, play with his electronics and watch Nascar.

Robert is preceded in death by his sister, Denise Christie, nephew, Dustin Powell and paternal grandparents, Buddy and Edna Lewter.

Robert is survived by one son, Christopher Powell of Monahans, Texas parents Bobby and Billie Powell of Odessa, Texas nephews, Dennis Christie of Atlanta, Georgia and Damien Christie and wife Jennifer of Odessa, Texas and one niece Haley Christie of Odessa, Texas and his beloved dog, Bambie.

Visitation with the family will be 68 PM Friday, July 27, 2012 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Alvin Applin officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Mike Proffit, David Rudd, Tommy Pate and Dan Gray.
