Robert Propp

Robert Ward Propp of Odessa, Texas, 91, passed away at his residence on November 4, 2012.

Born in Muskogee OK February 28, 1921 to John and Beatrice Propp. he was the grandson of U.S. Deputy Marshal and last U.S.Jailer for Muskogee I.T., Gus Lubbes. He was a1938 graduate of Muskogee Central High School. He received a Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering from University of Oklahoma at Norman. He worked as an engineer and construction superintendent for H.V. Stone construction and KelleyCoppege Inc. He was a Sunday School Teacher and member of Highland United Methodist Church for over 50 years.

He was a veteran of World War II and served in the US Army, 82nd Airborne. He fought in North Africa, and made 3 combat jumps Sicily, Italy, and he jumped at St. MereEglise on DDay. He received a Bronze and Silver Star and a Purple Heart for wounds sustained during the Battle of the Bulge.

He broke an ankle during a practice jump prior to the 82nds jump into Holland and missed that action. He related, I didnt get off scotfree, I got married, and Ive still got her.. He met and married a nurse trainee, Florence Swaddle on September 23, 1944. They were married for 68 years and have four children, 9 Grandchildren and 19 Great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, James, and sisters, Laura Johnson, Maxine Luton, and Betty Ann Loar

He is survived by his wife, Florence Brother, Milton of Albuquerque,NM,
Daugthers, Diane Zack and husband Steve of Brandford, CT, Patricia Allerding of Centerville ,VA, his sons, John and wife Suzi, James and wife Roxanne both of Odessa , TX.

Visitation with the family will be 68 PM Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday, November 8, 2012 at Highland United Methodist Church, with Rev. David Weyant and Milton Propp officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be given to Compass Hospice or the charity of your choice.
The family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Chau Le and the staff of Compass Hospice and especially Kyle, Marcy, Cheryl, and Owen.
